BIOGRAPHY

A special interest of his over the years was the ecumenical movement. He turned to music as a means of promoting church unity and interfaith communion. James began writing new tunes as settings for great traditional texts. Some of these lyrics may be new to many spiritual seekers, and other lyrics will be very familiar. James' intention was not to supplant anything that was worthy. Believers can now hear old and familiar hymns with new and appealing melodies, as if hearing them for the first time. Some are appropriate for congregational singing, others for choral or solo singers.
