- What is Scientific Pitch Notation?
Scientific pitch notation is a system that assigns a name to each natural pitch based on the octave they are found in. We use this system to describe the note range of our digital sheet music. The chart below can help you decipher this system:
Note: The original source of the following information is VocalSheetMusic.net and can be found here
-
Pitch Names inScientific Pitch Notation
The chart below lists the natural pitches and their corresponding pitch names for the range of pitches most commonly encountered in vocal music. These correspond to the high and low pitches listed for each piece. Use this as a guide to determine whether a piece is within your vocal range. Note that although only natural pitches are included, you can easily use this to determine flat and sharp pitches as well.
- When is it necessary to license music from Watchfire Music?
Requirements to license music depends on the situation in which you are using the music. Read all of the below information to determine whether you need to license a particular song:
-
If one broadcasts the music via films, television, radio, internet
radio, webcast, etc., then permission and licensing fees are required.
Please visit the Watchfire Music
Film and TV Library home page.
-
Churches do not need to pay licensing fees for music sung or played in
their services. In fact, you do not even have to ask permission, though
we appreciate you taking the time to do so. Since a church is a donation
situation, you are not required to pay any fees because you are not making
money off the playing of a song. We only ask that you give Proper
Credit* where credits are given.
-
*Proper Credit includes the artist's name or name of performing
group, the album title from which the song came, the writers of the song
(both composer and lyricist), the producer of the song and
www.WatchFireMusic.com.
-
Credit must be given within a practical readable duration so that those
who are viewing it have ample time to read it and note it if necessary.
In all cases whenever possible, there should be a link to
www.WatchFireMusic.com.
- Also the line, "[Song Title] has been used with permission from Watchfire Music."
-
*Proper Credit includes the artist's name or name of performing
group, the album title from which the song came, the writers of the song
(both composer and lyricist), the producer of the song and
www.WatchFireMusic.com.
- If the song is recorded and it's the first recording made then permission has to be obtained from composer and publisher; however, if the song has been previously recorded by anyone, then it is listed with a mechanical royalty company (most likely Harry Fox). In this case, mechanical royalty fees must be paid by the record company.
-
If one broadcasts the music via films, television, radio, internet
radio, webcast, etc., then permission and licensing fees are required.
Please visit the Watchfire Music
Film and TV Library home page.
- What is the policy on returning digital items?
There is a No Return No Refund Policy.
We ask that you carefully double-check your order for accuracy before placing your order. As our customer base grows larger we find that an increasing number of people place inaccurate orders and then request our staff to refund or exchange the intended order. Because of the nature of digital materials, the incorrect order cannot be "sent back". Once you have the order, it becomes, in essence, un-exchangeable. Consequently, we now remind both new and old customers of our No Return No Refund No Exchange Policy. If in any way the error is on us, we will, of course, refund and/or exchange. - Am I allowed to make changes to music that I purchased?
Changes to Intellectual Property Policy
The lyrics and music of the songs that you purchase from Watchfire Music are all under the copyright protection laws of the United States government. We owe it to our composers and artists to do everything possible to protect the integrity of their work. It has come to our attention more recently that people are sometimes arbitrarily changing lyrics and/or music to meet their needs. This constitutes the breaking of copyright law. The proper and legal way to handle content changes is to contact the composer and owner of the intellectual property and request that a change be made. Then it is up to the composer to comply or refuse. We ask that you observe this courtesy and respect the copyright law.
