Listen to the Music!
With the holiday season fast approaching, we offer you Christmas Song, an infectiously catchy tune sung by Emily Bindiger with simply stated lyrics reminding us of the true essence of Christmas: peace, goodwill, and love for all. On this song, Emily is joined by Margaret Dorn, vocal arrangement and background voice, a delightful group of session kids and 3 other cream of the crop background vocalists. It is one of twelve holiday treasures, both classic and modern, found on the compilation album The 12 Songs of Christmas, representing all the fine artists in our Holiday genre. The songs on this compilation cover various styles from classical to pop, and the birth of Jesus to ol’ St. Nick. Peter Link offers his memories of the birth of this recording:
“Don Rebic, one of the great NY session pianists in the studios and on Broadway, who has played for the likes of Peggy Lee, Kiri Te Kanawa, Barbara Cook, Betty Buckley, Dixie Carter, Morgana King, to name just a few, brought this song that he had written to me to orchestrate for him a few years back. It’s simply a charming Christmas song that sounded to me like a classic.
“By the way, Don also conducted the Pittsburgh and Dallas Symphony Orchestras and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as Leslie Uggams’ musical director for 24 years and has served as musical director for cabaret icon Karen Akers for 23 years. We decided to hire another great session singer that we had both worked with over the years, Emily Bindiger.”
