Merry Christmas! This year we round out our weekly inspirational song with Julia Wade singing There Is A Balm In Gilead, off her album Story For The Ages, a timeless CD whose interpretation of these beautiful songs reflect upon the life, times, and teachings of Christ Jesus. There is also sheet music available for this song, which can be found here.

And now, a Christmas Card from Peter Link:

“This Christmas offering is a little different than the normal Christmas song celebrating the birth of Jesus. It is rather a celebration of the man, Jesus, and the incredible mindset that he brought to us, the Christ, the way-shower, the gift of God that gave the world a better idea of the way to live our lives here on Planet Earth.

“I was taking my daily walk this past week-before-Christmas, all strapped into my earbuds and focused on the music pouring through me from my Apple watch when this song came on. It’s a song that I produced and orchestrated around ten years ago for my wife, Julia Wade, yet I did not recognize it until she began to sing. The beauty of her voice and the message of the song swept over me and sent the consciousness of Christmas through me so powerfully that I just had to stop walking and listen to the moment. As I stood in the path and people walked around me wondering why that man was frozen in time, I was only conscious of the Christ Spirit flowing through the song into my soul.

“And so, as our Christmas present to you from Watchfire Music this year, I (Julia and I) bring you There Is A Balm In Gilead.

“Enjoy! And have a Merry and Inspired Christmas!”

The Lyrics

"No home should be without these two things. A Bible and Julia Wade's new CD "Story for the Ages." If I were a doctor I would prescribe this record for anyone with stress, high blood pressure or in plain language, the misery. Ms. Wade has a way of transporting us to a higher plane, but there is nothing plain about her singing. She has the voice of an angel. This record will get played over and over." -- Carol Jay, New York, NY

"Congratulations Julia on your newest release, "Story for The Ages." Upon listening to the very first track, I traveled back in time down memory lane. Once again, I found myself at the keyboard with Milo Giovanni (piano instructor) who taught me the true worth of classical music. "Balm in Gilead" is truly amazing. Thanks for rejuvenating a great love within me, with the sound of a Nightingale!" -- W.D. Williams, New York, NY

  1. Spiritually transporting….Thank you for such blessings and spiritual fervour.

    1. Hi Lorna, perhaps this song was a bit of an odd choice for our Christmas ISOTW, but it just seemed so appropriate this year to celebrate not only the birth of Jesus, but also the whole man, the healer — that balm in Gilead.
