"How lucky to come across the beautifully sung Jenny Burton Experience. A superslick, pop-gospely entertainment, the Experience stars the sleek but fiery Burton. The nine-voice choir behind her is so pristine it sounds like it's been remixed and mastered in advance." -Michael Musto, The Village Voice

  1. I’ve had the gift and privilege for many years to work with a composer that I’ve always thought of as a visionary. Not always an easy seat to sit in, being ahead of your time.

Peter Link wrote, “Tear Down The House”, more than 10 years ago, yet today it’s so meaningful regarding what we’re being asked to do in the rebuilding of our lives and our world on a foundation that is more aware, caring, respectful and sacred.

    Easier said than done!

Sometimes, I’ve reflected on whether it’s harder to be in the shape we’re in, then it would be to rebuild something closer to a world with attributes that includes all man and womankind.

A world within and without, that includes a loving care of ourselves that we would then know how to extend to each other.

Recently, I heard someone say something I’d heard most of my life, but suddenly I understood it better than I ever had.

“Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself.” That, of course, begs the question of how much do you love yourself, in the best and most sober sense of the word. The quality of how one loves themselves is what gets extended to your neighbor. If that sense of love for yourself is poor, then that is what you extend to your neighbor.

It’s also been said, “Love Makes The World Go Round.”

Now that we have been bent to our knees, whether in prayer, humility or reflection, is it not time to take heed?

This is an individual and human kind of task that we might choose to avoid again and again, but to what cost this time?

So YES lets “Tear Down The House” and rebuild because that can’t be harder than what we’re going through right now. And isn’t it pretty amazing that we’ve been given the opportunity and chance to do so.

Peter Link, thank you for your vision and for the many wonderful songs and lyrics I’ve had the opportunity and gift to sing!

    1. Jenny, we thank you for your always rich and perspicacious comments. Times are tough, but in these tough times, a little rebuilding of our lives, both personnel and world wide, sounds like the right idea. Thanks for bringing all your considerable gifts to this song.
