Lyrics
A SONG OF FREEDOM
by Carolyn Kardinal
I have strained to touch the garment’s hem.
I have begged at the road, and waited for a sign
That tells me how and when.
When can I sing a song of freedom from mortal tyranny?
How can I bind the strong man, and when will I be set free?
When will the tablet of my being be washed until all is pure?
When will the sweet song of freedom reach my waiting ear?
Now is the time and here is the place
For us to come boldly to the throne of grace
Where the sweet song of freedom plays loud and clear.
Its music has always played right here.
Listen, my child, to Love’s sweet song.
Every note is always harmonious strong!
God’s presence is the music, right now, right here,
So let the song of freedom ring beautiful and clear!
Can you feel His presence? Can you hear the song?
He’s right here, right now. Can you sing along?
The waiting is over: the blind man sees!
The deaf can hear all God’s harmonies!
The tongue is loosed! All sing the refrain
Of freedom’s song that frees us from pain!
Now is the time and here is the place
For us to come boldly to the throne of grace
Where the sweet song of freedom plays loud and clear.
Its music has always played right here.
Listen, my child, to Love’s sweet song.
Every note is always harmonious strong!
God’s presence is the music, right now, right here, So let the song of freedom ring beautiful and clear!
