Havin’ A Talk With God
Episode #6 – Preacher Man 1
Thyme
Hi God.
God
Mornin’, Thyme.
Thyme
Boy, do I have a question for you!
God
Well then, let’s get right to it.
Thyme
The subject this morning is Preacher Man.
God
Aaah, the Reverend Josiah Washburn … Revered Minister of Skedee, Oklahoma.
Thyme
Ya’ know ‘im?
God
Well, of course I know him. I know all my children.
Thyme
Well I gotta question fer ya’ ‘bout him.
God
I’ll bet you do.
Thyme
What do you mean by that?
God
Well it’s obvious. He’s taken a shine to you.
Thyme
You think so?
God
I know so.
Thyme
Oh yeah, you know everything.
God
Yup.
Thyme
Well if you know everything then why does he look at me kinda funny everytime I see him Sunday mornin’ … both comin’ an’ goin’?
God
What do you mean “kinda funny?”
Thyme
Well you know, he starts at my toes an’ ends up at my eyes … an’ includes everything else in between.
God
Well, I guess he’s just lookin’ you over.
Thyme
But he’s a minister! A servant a’ God!
God
But he’s also a man too, is he not?
Thyme
Well, he is kinda cute! But does he hafta look at me like that?
God
Yup.
Thyme
An’ jus’ why is that?
God
I expect he’s just lookin’ over the merchandise.
Thyme
Is that what I am? A piece a’ merchandise?
God
Well, you are awfully pretty an’ fun to look at.
Thyme
Well, I never.
God
You should be flattered, Thyme. Not shocked.
Thyme
Uh huh. OK … (a pause of consideration) God, you really think he thinks I’m pretty?
God
I know it. He even puts you in his prayers sometimes.
Thyme
He does? Like how?
God
He asks that I make it so that you might notice him.
Thyme
Well, I guess you answered his prayers then.
God
No, I didn’t do anything. He did all the work.
Thyme
Well, ain’t that somethin’ … Jus’ wait till I tell Lizzie. She’ll know what ta’ do!
God
I’d be careful with that.
Thyme
Oh yeah? Why?
God
Well now, Lizzie Cranbottom, she’s quite the woman of the world. She may be a bit outta your league.
Thyme
(hurt feelings)
Now why would you say a thing like that.
God
Because it’s the truth an’ I tell the truth. You don’t need Lizzie Cranbottom to manage your affairs d’amour.
Thyme
What’s that mean?
God
That’s French for in the matters of the heart. No, trust your own instincts.
Thyme
I gotta think on this one. Looks like the ball’s in my court.
God
I’d agree with that.
Thyme
Hey, I gotta idea. Next time he looks me over, I’ll jus’ look him over back!
God
Sounds like a plan. I’ll enjoy watchin’ that!
Thyme
Well now that’s private. You an’ Lizzie better keep yer noses outta my Affairs Dahmor.
God
Good for you. Now ya’ got it. Go get him, Kid!
Thyme
He really thinks I’m kinda pretty …? God, you there? God?
Made me a cup of my favorite tea, settle down, here in New York and took a walk with my new friend Thyme Quinn, in Skedee, Oklahoma, to her favorite place, and listened to her talk with God! Made me think I better be having me some more talks with God! Thank you Thyme. Until next time.
