John’s background includes a doctorate in American Studies from the University of Michigan. His love for the humanities and the arts found expression in teaching at the Cranbrook School of Art and the University of Michigan. While at the UofM, he was active in the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, both singing and directing. At The Christian Science Monitor, he wrote film reviews and articles for the Arts Page. Returning home to Muskegon, he used his journalistic talents writing and reviewing for The Muskegon Chronicle.
