R. Scott White

Scott White is known as a composer of many different styles. He has written for accompanied soloists, for handbells, for organ and for choirs. He is also known for his regular work as organist, accompanist, choir director and church music director.

Biography

Scott has had a varied and longtime music career as pianist, organist, composer, and music director. He won piano competitions in 1971 and 1975 in New Hampshire and later earned a Bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at Boston University. Scott is currently teaching and accompanying professionally at Keene State College and the Nashua Community Music School. He is also music director for the Methuen Young People’s Theater and plays at other professional events around New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Scott is also a longtime organist and church musician. As a longstanding Colleague of the American Guild of Organists, he is currently the Wednesday evening organist at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Weston MA, and the Music Director for the Union Congregational Church in North Reading, MA where he also conducts two choirs and two handbell groups. He has written solos, handbell pieces, organ pieces and other works for these churches.
