For more than a decade now, Watchfire Music has been working with Composers and Publishers to offer a range of Study Tools for each Digital Sheet Music (DSM) title on watchfiremusic.com. We now offer these Study Tools for 90% of our DSM titles.

Why provide these? Sheet Music isn’t always enough! To aid you in your work, we offer Study Tools just for you — the emerging 21st century church musician who, very often, has trained classically, but find yourself needing to broaden and expand your repertoire for the modern church congregation.

So … What are Study Tools?

They are Tools for your ears as well as for your eyes.

We offer 3 kinds: Study Tracks, Accompaniment Tracks, and Studio Tracks.

A Study Track is a single mp3 recording of a Digital Sheet Music title.  It is a recording of the instrumental accompaniment (usually keyboard, piano or organ) and it also employs a different instrument (rhodes piano, flute, clarinet, etc.) to play the vocal line.

An Accompaniment Track is a single mp3 recording of the instrumental accompaniment (usually keyboard, piano or organ) of a Digital Sheet Music title. Accompaniment Tracks are intended for your rehearsal and performance use.

A Studio Track is a professionally recorded performance of a Digital Sheet Music title by professional musicians in a recording studio. Studio Tracks are available as single mp3 downloads and are often part of a recording artist’s full album.

A Composer is an individual who generates sheet music.  A Composer can also be an Artist (who records their music) as well, but then they would always be listed as both.  Composers will be found related to Digital Sheet Music (DSM).

Category: Basics

A Profile is an in depth look at an Artist or Composer — their Products, their Bio, their Quotes, and anything else about them that can help you get to know them. Think of a Profile as the portal to the work of any given Artist or Composer.

An Artist is an individual who generates recorded music (a CD, an Album).  An Artist can also be a Composer (who generates sheet music) as well, but then they would always be listed as both.  An Artist is normally the principle contributor to the work (CD, Single, Album) and can be the Lead Vocalist in many cases, the Pianist or Guitarist often in the case of an Instrumental work, or even the Producer who works more in the background, but is the  primary artistic force behind the work.   Artists will be found related to Albums/CDs.

If you purchase a CD (shippable hard goods) product, it is the best quality of music available to the public today — a 16 bit aiff file.  If the Samples you listen to on the internet and the songs you downloaded were all 16 bit aiff files, the wait time for the music to load into the internet players and download to your computers and phones would be so long that people (who all seem to now be in such a hurry) would never wait for the loading process.  So … in the interest of speed, the quality of the the 16 bit aiff file is converted down to a more Low Res version of the original.  Somebody named this an MP3.  Most people can’t tell the difference.  If you’re one who can, and prefer a better fidelity, buy the CD.

We define Inspirational music as music that brightens your life and enlivens your soul.  It is positive value music whose purpose is to uplift thought.  It can be both sacred and secular.  We like to say that if the song says, “I woke up this morning and I feel good!” — that’s an inspirational song.  A purely instrumental (no voice or lyrics) can also be an Inspirational song if it is uplifting in some fashion.

We suggest the following:  First start with the Nav Bar (Navigation Bar).  That’s the bar across the top of any page that says things like Home, About, Shop, Services, etc.  Click on the various subjects and explore what comes up.  Often a window will appear below the Subject which gives you further specifics of the main Subject.  Click on each and go the the relative page and explore.  Run down the the Nav Bar from left to right and check out all the delights of WFM (Watchfire Music).  Especially, check out “Shop Info” on the Nav Bar and discover powerful new ways to search and find Inspirational Music! Spend an hour or even a couple of half hours exploring and you’ll quickly get the hang of it.  It’s a little like wandering through a new department store except that you can do it from the comfort of your favorite easy chair.

We define a CD as a hard good shippable item — a disk that you can hold in your hand,   We then define an Album as a group of songs that you can download digitally.   Essentially, they are the same product — one is downloadable and the other is shippable.

And  what does this mean: “Downloads remaining 10 & expires May 2/18?”

The “downloads remaining” number is the number of times you can download the solo from our website onto your computer. The expiration date is the point after which you will no longer be able to download the solo from our website.

We give you multiple download attempts within a 3-month period to insure that you are able to properly access your purchase. If you’re having issues with successfully downloading and have run out of download attempts, you can send us a support email. We’ll reset your downloads and help you with the issue preventing you from being able to download it. However, you must do this within the 3-month period.

No we do not.  The advantages of Digital Sheet Music (DSM) far out weigh the old fashioned way of purchase.  Digital Downloads are literally weeks faster, with no shipping costs.  They arrive at your desktop or download folder in seconds, and consequently sheet music stores are just a way of the past.  If you leave your music on its stand at the end of your rehearsal at your church, you can always print another at home.  There are some things about modernity that are just hard to beat.  This is definitely one.
