As the world moves faster and faster and families become more and more spread out across the globe, home becomes such a huge focus around the holidays. The sentiment of this song is evident and meaningful to anyone who is longing to be with loved ones during the holidays but there is an inside joke embedded in this rendition. During a rehearsal, I was trying to really hear and analyze the harmonies in the orchestration and decided to sing it as slowly as possible with as few breaths as possible. The engineer actually captured a full take of it and it made me laugh so hard because when I tried to do it again I could not. So, I decided to use that exact, once in a lifetime take with the whole song sung in one breath. (Well, not quite, but at the end it kinda felt that way.)

Lyrics

I’ll Be Home For Christmas
(Gannon/Kent) Arr. B. Ross/L.Williams

I’m dreaming tonight of a place I love even more than I usually do.
And although I know it’s a long road back, I promise you.
I’ll be home for Christmas, you can count on me.
Please have snow and mistletoe and presents on the tree.
Christmas Eve will find me where the love light gleams.
I’ll be home for Christmas if only in my dreams
(Repeat)
