Search Me, O God
Text: based on Psalm 139: vers. Adrienne Tindall
Music: NO HIDING PLACE: arr. Austin C. Lovelace

Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thought,
And guide me if some wicked way would make Your truth unsought.
Everything I would say or do, everywhere I would go,
Your love sustains my inmost life and heals all sin and woe.

Where could I ever hide from You? Where could I flee away?
In heaven I am by Your side, in hell You are my stay.
Darkness can have no power to hide, night brings no threat too near;
Your presence is my shining light! Your truth dispels my fear.

Precious are all Your thoughts to me, numberless as the sands!
Each time I wake I feel myself still cradled in Your hands.
Taking the wings of morning’s rays, dwelling in farthest seas,
Your hand is even there, to guide, Your right hand, holding me.

Surely Your power will vanquish sin! Surely Your truth shall reign!
May my life glorify Your good, — be free of sin and stain.
Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thought,
And guide me if some wicked way would make Your truth unsought.

Search me, O God, and know my heart.
