An Honest and Good Heart

Lyrics: Matthew 13: 3-9, 23, Mark 4: 3-8, Adapted by Peter B. Allen
Composer: Peter B. Allen

When a large crowd from many towns had gathered around Jesus,
He told them this parable:
A farmer went out to sow his seed,
And as he sowed some fell on the path.

As people walked by they crushed it down,
And the birds came and ate the seed.

And some seed fell on rocky soil,
And when they grew they soon dried up,
For they had no roots, and no water.

And some seed fell among the thorns,
And the thorns sprang up and choked the seed.

But the rest of the seed fell on good ground,
But the rest of the seed fell on good ground,
But the rest of the seed fell on good ground,
Where it grew and brought forth a thirty times,
Or sixty times, or a hundred times what was sown.

If you have ears to hear, listen. If you have ears to hear, listen.

Planted in the soil of an honest heart, planted in the soil of a good heart,
Are they that hear the word and hold it close, and bring forth much fruit,
And bring forth much fruit.

Planted in the soil of an honest heart, planted in the soil of a good heart,
Are they that hear the word and hold it close, and bring forth much fruit,
And bring forth much fruit, and bring forth much fruit.

Planted in the soil of an honest heart, planted in the soil of a good heart,
Planted in the soil of an honest heart, planted in the soil of a good heart.
