The Resurrection
(John 20: 13-15)
Music by Frederick Koch

In the April morning so long ago, Two angels rob’d in white
Rolled back the stone to show
that Christ the Lord was risen, was risen from the dead,
that Christ the Lord was risen, was risen from the dead.

In the April morning, before the break of day,
Mary Magdalena beheld the stone rolled ‘way.
She saw the tomb was empty,
Empty. “They have taken my Lord away,

And I know not where they have laid him,
They have taken my Lord away!”
Turning, she saw the Master, knowing not yet that it was He,
Until He gently spake unto them, tenderly saying, “Mary.”

Alleluia, Christ is risen, Glory be to God in heav’n.
Love hath rolled the stone away,
Truth hath vanquished death today;

Joy is ours this Easter morn,
Hope in ev’ry heart is born,
Alleluia, Christ is risen, Glory be to God in heaven.
