A Christmas song, telling the story of the three kings and their gifts. Strong and firm like a procession, with gentler interludes.

Lyrics

The Wisemen’s Gifts
Music by John F. Wilson
Lyrics from Matthew 2 and John F. Wilson

See they come, the Wisemen, saying,
“Where is he that is born the King of the Jews?
For we have seen his star in the east
and are come to worship him.”

When they had departed,
the star in the east went on before them,
over where the child lay.
When they saw the star,
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they came into the house
they fell down and worshipped the child.
And when they had opened their treasures
they presented him gifts –
gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

That’s why –
Christmas is a time when we all love to give,
in honour of him who taught us how to pray.
We bring our gifts of joy to the altar of Truth
and there we place them,
knowing that our lives are blessed
by the Father and Mother of all,
who gave to us the greatest gift –
who gave us our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Who will be a wise man, bearing gifts
to the Christ-child on Christmas day?
