Audience and Press Reviews
It’s good to hear some traditional solo piano; the genre has been in a state of flux for a few years now, and whilst many pander to an algorithm, others like Jay Frost create music from the heart and manifest tones of honesty and heartfelt truths, here on his latest release Con Alare he does just that, gifting us ever eager listeners an album of 8 compositions, and not one of them is thankfully less than 6 most grateful minutes in duration.
There is a continuity and a magical quality to Jay’s musicality, and Con Alare lets you feel like you are part of the magic! I want to draw attention to the track "Everlasting", which has a universal quality about it that is invigorating and relaxing at the same time. It lifts your thought to a mental space of peace, joy, and the expectation of goodness in your experience.
Jay’s album “Con Alare” — is a beautiful album— a peace-filled experience, and so soothing. Thank you for bringing us along your “winged” journey!! It is such a blessing to listen to.
I looked on the list of the Weekly Musicians to see who we had as performers and there was a new newlywed couple who were performing music that was just…beautiful. So I’d like to present to the stage Jay and Tessa Frost from Seattle, Washington. And I hope that when you hear their music, you catch a glimpse of the beauty of God.
Wonderful! You two are quite the vibrant duo. Your very real energy is extremely fun and inspiring. It is SO AWESOME to hear you in my church each month. I am appreciative of your gracious humility and sweet friendliness. Thank you for sharing so freely.
Thank you for the comfort in your music. I think of Mary Baker Eddy’s hymns – Mother’s Evening Prayer, Shepherd Show Me, Brood O’er Us. There is something to be noticed there, and something to be recognized as invaluable right now in its immediacy and its universality. Messages of comfort, compassion, and Love.
Inspired and inspiring! So lovely to hear you sharing this with our wider church family. Your music always lifts my heart!
I love the CD and I can't wait to sing your lovely songs. Congratulations, you two!
Peace Like A River is probably the most beautiful composition/performance I have ever heard.
... your recent contribution on time4thinkers weekly musician [Father of Lights], I danced outside to that piece. I was in the early morning with my bike before the sun got hot and went under these beautiful trees and took off my shoes and let the music move me. It was wonderful. It was truly a Thanksgiving service for me. THANK YOU! Also, [one day my] church service was without an organist. I spontaneously picked out a solo from your album "SOULSHINE". I was inspired to pick this because I heard it sung in one of The Mother Church's Sunday services. How enriching!
I thank you all so much. It touch[ed] me so and gave me such comfort just when I was missing GOD's son so much. Knowing who is always with him and me. Thank you for this most beautiful expression of love.
One word: Awe! Awesome! Awe-inspiring! And, yes, I am awestruck. Thanks so much for your guys' dedication and love that can be felt through your music.
The spiritual message is so clear. I sincerely hope your work moves off the internet and into our branch churches.
When I was put in charge of our church's online services, I really struggled to find appropriate contemporary music. Jay's solo piano music has a perfect tone; uplifting, calm and joyful. The music I had been given was all classical organ music, which doesn't seem as appropriate online. Thank you very much for creating and recording music for preludes and postludes!
