Jacob was alone

Jacob was alone
Suffering the throes of his humanity
Jacob was alone
Struggling to find the truth of his being
Wrestling with his mortality
Searching for the meaning of life
Jacob was alone
But Jacob was only as alone as he was open
Open to the angel thoughts
That challenged his doubt

This was the moment
The climax of his grappling with Truth
But Jacob was never alone
Though one voice whispered
“Let me go, for the day breaketh!”
His better sense shouted
“Not until you bless me
With a thorough understanding
Not until I finally see the light”

Jacob was alone
Holding fast to his angel thought
He let go the remnants of mortality
Then Jacob was alone again
A changed man
Alone and at one with God
Alone in his spiritual being
Jacob was alone
Transcending the throes of his duality
Jacob was alone
At peace now with his true reality
Jacob was alone with God.
