Naaman the Syrian
Lyrics
Naaman, Captain of the host of the King of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable because by him the Lord had given deliv’rance unto Syria. He was also
a mighty man, also a mighty man. But he was a leper. The Syrians had gone out by companies and had brought away captive out of Israel, A little maid, a little maid and
she waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God, my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria, for he would recover him of his leprosy. Then
the King said unto Naaman, “Go to go, and I will send a letter unto the King of Israel.” Then the King of Isr’el rent his clothes and said “Am I a God to kill and make alive?”
Then Elisha, the man of God, said wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? Let him come to me and he shall know there is a God in Israel. So Naaman came and stood at the
door of the house of Elisha, and Elisha sent a messenger saying, “Go wash in Jordan seven times.” And Naaman was wroth and said, “I thought he would come out to
me, and call upon the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place and recover the leper.” Then the servants drew near and said, “My father if he had bid
thee do some great thing thou wouldst have done it, how much better to wash and be clean.” So Naaman came unto Jordan and dipped himself seven times, and his
flesh became that of a little child, Became like that of a little child. Wash and be clean, Wash and be clean.
