Ron Di Salvio

Ron Di Salvio is a true twenty-first century Renaissance man. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946 he began his musical journey at the age of eleven learning the accordion with Alexander Matos. At sixteen he studied jazz piano with Lennie Tristano. A self taught composer, Ron’s piano trio performed in numerous jazz clubs in New York’s Greenwich Village in the late sixties. He shared the stage with Sonny Rollins, Art Farmer, Joe Henderson, Jimmy Cobb and Enrico Rava. In 1970 he departed New York leaving behind the jazz and drug scene. He studied architecture and designed and constructed his own home using only hand tools on 160 acres of undeveloped land in the Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

In 1973 he founded “Wintergreen Organic Foods and Bakery” in Marquette, Michigan. He was composer in residence at Northern Michigan University and Organist at St. Peters Cathedral. In 1980 he moved to Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and designed and built his current residence. Ron and his wife Carol have raised five beautiful daughters and currently have four grandchildren. He studied the science of metallurgy, worked himself up from laborer to President of Trojan Heat Treat Inc. a position he has held for 35 years. In addition Ron is Music Director of the United Methodist Church in Marshall, Michigan and serves as adjunct professor at Kalamazoo College teaching improvisation, composition and theory. Ron is an Origin, BluJazz and Meadow Run Music recording artist. He is author of DELTADIATONICS and introduces a universal chord symbology for the 21st Century.
