Whether it’s a cherished pet, or a relative, or long-time friend, the passing of a loved one often leaves us wondering if this beloved idea is still going on….still free to express joy and happiness. When a friend shared the poem “Confidence” (Adam Dickson) with me, the music started flowing immediately, and it helped to heal the grief I was feeling from the loss of a sweet one. May you, too, feel the confidence that God is forever with Her precious and adored creations, guarding, protecting and guiding them along the path of their next journey.

Lyrics

Child of Mine

Music by Deborah Ann Offenhauser
Words from “Confidence” by Adam Dickson
From the December 7, 1935 issue of the Christian Science Sentinel

Trust in God, whose love enfolds thee,
Trust and never be afraid;
Strong the arms that will support thee,
In the shelter Truth has made.

Thou wilt never be forsaken,
Though alone thou seem’st to be,
All around are guardian angels,
To sustain and comfort thee.

Trust in Him whose love enfolds thee,
Trust Him as the days go by,
And His kind and gentle presence
Will to you be ever nigh.

Straight the road that lies before thee,
Fair the land where’er thou be,
Sweet the voice that softly whispers:
Child of Mine, I am with thee.
