Based on the early American hymn 'Autumn,' this solo is easy, and has a pretty tune with an understated accompaniment that mostly follows the voice. This piece (with words from Hymn #76 from the 1932 Christian Science Hymnal) is one of a large collection of hymn texts given new, creative settings by Nicholas Schliapin. Watchfire is thrilled to make Mr. Schliapin's compositions once again available.

Lyrics

God is known in loving-kindness

Early American melody, “Autumn”
From: William Walker’s Christian Harmony (1866)
Words by: Johannes Heermann (From Swedish translation of Jakob Boëthius and John O. Wallin)
Arranged by: Nicholas P. Schliapin

God is known in loving kindness, God, the true, eternal good;
Zion ne’er will be forsake thee, Trust His Father-Motherhood.
Can a mother leave her children?
Can unchanging Love forget?
Though all earthly friends betray thee, Lo, His arm en-folds thee yet.
Every prayer to Him is answered, Prayer confiding in His well;
Blessedness and joy are near thee, Hear His gentle Peace, by still.

Hear His voice above the tempest: I have not forsaken thee, In My hand thy name is graven I will save both thine and thee.
Hear His voice above the tempest: I have not forsaken thee; In My hand thy name is graven, I will save both thine and thee.
