This Bible story of the woman healed of her issue of blood, is told from the woman's own perspective. Was it Jesus' garment, or her faith?

Lyrics

The Garment
Words and Music by Dinah Satterwhite

How do I reach the unreachable?
How can this heart wake from fears
Dark skies they echo my tear-filled eyes
From my issue of blood these twelve years

I didn’t ask for this storm inside
A blanket of pain with no end
Nothing has helped, I’m exhausted and poor
Now I hear of Jesus, who God did send

Give me the grace
I know I have the strength left in me
The faith to find my way through the crowd
To hear Jesus speak
His heart so full of Love
If I could only touch his garment

What do they see when they look at me?
My worn shoes and tattered old dress
The people I love have all given up
I’ve been on the verge I confess

If I take a deep breath, my hope rises up
I feel a sweet sense of Love
Pushing past boundaries my will is strong
And just in that moment a spark ignites

I see Him now in a tunic so plain
That must possess
The strength Of God
If I could just touch the edge of this garment
I know I’d be free
Free from this bondage

I reach and touch His garment
The master turns
Disciples stare
Then Jesus asks “who touched my garment?”

I move to Him and fall to my knees
I tell Him my tale of twelve years
He lifts up my head and says
“My dear child, fear not
‘Tis thy faith that made thee whole”

I thanked the great man as he walked away
My life was transformed, my prayers answered
So it wasn’t the garment but my faith in God
I rose up and wept tears of joy and love

That was long ago
Now I have a family
Seamstress by day
Mother at night

Safe in God’s care
Humble and grateful
I’ll never forget, my faith made me whole
When he stood before me
In His earthly garment
