Ever felt a shift coming?
This latest chapter in Scattershot Symphony comes straight from Peter Link’s heart. Walkin’ On the Earth Again is a rediscovery song, written in one take decades ago, sparked by a major turning point in his life.
Now brought back to light, it’s a duet between who he was and who he’s become, a layered mix of then and now, raw and real.
Says Peter Link …
“This episode includes the original performance, new orchestration, and reflections on the emotional journey behind the music.
“I discovered a song I had written 4 or 5 decades ago. It was a response to a very bad habit that I had fallen into in life. The song was written and performed in my living room studio and was a one take … this means that I sang and played it one time in the recording process. It was an imperfect performance, but, for me, it was a powerful reaction to a profound turning point in my life. It touched me very deeply to hear the depth of emotion contained in this one take. I loved the song and decided to re-record it. As it was , in several tries I could not match the depth of the song sung by the much younger me. So I used the original Guitar/Vocal mixed track and added an orchestration to it in my studio – a duet performed by the two Mes – young and old.” ~Peter Link

Every once in a while, a song comes along that doesn’t just speak to you—it speaks for you.
I believe most of us, as human beings, are struggling with something. It takes a mighty soul and a brave heart to fight that battle and fight for oneself. Reclaiming one’s life, as Whitney Houston once sang in The Greatest Love of All, is truly the greatest gift of love a person can give themselves. Peter Link’s courage to face that dark time in his life—and now to share it through this song—is a profound act of strength. Just as his friend Bernie Kirsh supported him, Peter now shares that same hope with others. With Walking On the Earth Again, he opens the door to the possibility that anyone listening might discover within themselves the strength to break free—whether from addiction or from whatever burden they may be carrying.
And for every person who makes that journey to personal healing, it becomes possible for others to do so as well. By sharing his truth so honestly, Peter gives us more than music—he gives us hope. And that is simply beautiful.
Thank you, Jenny! Way back then you also were a big part of my hope and bravery.
Really enjoyed that testimony! And surprised the song was never a hit. Certainly sounds like one!
Thanks, John. The song still has a chance! It will definitely be on my next album. Sung by the kid in me … :0)
Thank you so much, Peter, for your inspired story. Years ago, I was a cigarette smoker, and tried several times to quit, but wasn’t able to do so on my own. In my life journey, I was unhappy and wondering what and where was Truth. In my search, I started going to different churches but found no answer. But one day when I was in the waiting room, as my car was being serviced, I looked over and saw a little booklet – a Christian Science Sentinel – that had a stamp on it that meant that I could take it home – I did – and after reading it, I began to think that maybe this is what I’m looking for. I visited the local Christian Science Church and everyone lovingly took me under their wing. I talked with a CS Practitioner and she prayed about the addiction – she said that it was never a part of me. I became free and am so very grateful to be a member of this healing Church and to have served as a Christian Science nurse for many years. Truth sets us free! Thanks, again, for sharing your story – I love music and YOUR music!
What a beautiful story, Berna! To find the Truth in your life is a precious gift … a gift to yourself. Thanks for writing in.
Peter, what a wonderful gift you gave not only to others, but to yourself. The temporal problem you faced was simply a “blip” in the story of your life. That was such a weight of loss of self and separation of self from the real you. I know you can see that now, and you should be proud of the moments you were strong, and not fearful… not afraid of your gifts. Of course there will be times of doubt and disappointment, but that strength, that power, that desire, that angel message will shine and give you continued light…..forever! Thank you for sharing your past and you touching moments of forgiveness and strength. Much love,
Thank you, Michele! Beautifully expressed.
